WHAT IS CELECOXIB?

Celecoxib is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that helps relieve pain and inflammation by targeting specific hormones responsible for these symptoms in the body. It is classified as a COX-2 inhibitor, meaning it selectively blocks the enzyme that triggers inflammatory responses while minimizing impact on stomach-protecting mechanisms.

Celecoxib is prescribed to manage symptoms associated with various medical conditions, including arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, menstrual discomfort (dysmenorrhea), and other inflammatory joint-related disorders.

HOW SHOULD I TAKE CELECOXIB?

Always take celecoxib according to your physician’s instructions. Adhere strictly to the dosing guidelines on the prescription label and review all provided medication guides. Whenever possible, use the smallest effective dose to control your symptoms.

Celecoxib may be taken with or without meals.

For liquid formulations, use the calibrated dosing instrument provided with the product—never a regular kitchen spoon—to ensure accurate measurement.

If you are unable to swallow the capsule whole, it can be opened and mixed with a small amount of applesauce. Consume the blend immediately with water. This medication-applesauce mixture may be stored in the refrigerator for up to 6 hours and used later the same day.

Keep the medication at room temperature, protected from humidity and direct heat sources.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS A DOSE?

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember, unless it’s nearly time for your next scheduled dose—in which case, skip the missed one. Never take double doses.

Do not use aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents (such as ibuprofen, ketoprofen, naproxen, etc.) during celecoxib therapy unless specifically directed by your doctor.

Limit or avoid alcohol consumption, as it may heighten the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding.

Consult your healthcare provider or pharmacist before using over-the-counter medications for headache, temperature, swelling, or cold/flu symptoms, as they may contain NSAID components overlapping with celecoxib’s active profile.
